ANDALUCÍA – Yoga, guided wellness & magic!
Come with me to Andalucía for a magical mooch in the mountains of southern Spain. Daily yoga and guided wellness interspersed by wildlife, dramatic scenery and ancient ruins.
We will stay at the beautifully renovated old finca, Casa Libelula – Dragonfly house. This is a place for you to truly relax. It feels like it is nurturing you the moment you arrive. Each ensuite room is full of character, finished to a high standard to ensure your comfort.
The yoga platform situated right at the top of the property is a very special place indeed. The views are incredible. And then there is the studio, set amid the olive groves. As for the yoga, it will be a unique and profoundly nurturing exploration. I believe in giving you the insight and tools to be able to feel what is happening in your body. So that you can understand what is going on for you & move in a way that is helpful. I also believe that yoga shouldn’t be too serious. My lessons will be jolly and informative, there will be time for individual attention and questions… I bring with me a wealth of lived wellness experience which I will share with you during the week. I also offer the magic that is yoga nidra…
And as an added bonus, Wildyogis has teamed up with Andrea and Chelsea from Soham seeds. Together they bring experience in natural health, wellness and holistic psychology to offer you magic in the form of four-hand massages, energy healing– reiki, delicious food and soul nourishing conversations.
“It's not just that they feed us and clean up after us and support us, they sprinkle fairy dust on us every time they pass…”
Casa Libelula sits close to an incredible geological feature; the enchanted & eerie landscape that is the limestone karst formation of El Torcal. The place is other worldly, a nature reserve which is home to a wonderful array of fauna and flora. Awash with wild flowers it includes 30 species of orchid. It is also home to the Iberian ibex, the Andalusian wild goat, often seen in silhouette surveying visitors from their vantage points.
Nearby you can encounter the might of the river Guadalhorce cutting through rock to form the breath-taking El Chorro gorge. Walk the Camino del Rey; recently renovated this walkway, pinned along the steep walls of the gorge, gives an eagle eye view of the breath-taking scenery. The whole El Chorro area is beautiful with turquoise lakes bordered by pine trees growing unfeasibly from rocky outcrops. The scent from the wild thyme, sage & rosemary drifts to the nostrils. The bird life here is fantastic, with many birds of prey. Griffon vultures, Peregrines, Short-toed eagles and even, at the right time of year, Egyptian vultures to name a few. This region is also home to Bobastro, tucked away amidst the rocks and pine trees, this 9th century Moorish ruin has something special about it.
Just outside Antequera, a UNESCO world heritage site. The 5000-year-old dolmens. These prehistoric burial chambers represent some of the largest and complete megalithic structures in Europe. Antequera also boasts a rather fine 14th century fortress, The Alcazaba is well worth a mooch too.
Annie’s review:
”The retreat at Dragonfly house was one of the best I've been on and has all the ingredients for the perfect, relaxing week. The only trouble you'll have is you won't want to leave! Here's what I experienced during my 7 days in this little pocket of paradise:
- exceptional yoga teaching that broadened my practice in fun, challenging and unique ways
- a variety of meditation techniques that kept it interesting and mind expanding
- the magic of practising on a crystal gridded yoga deck / yoga studio floor
- as much nature and tranquility as I could have hoped for
- generous and healthy vegan/vegetarian food that was also delicious
- luxury accommodation and facilities with love and attention funneled into every detail
- a warm-hearted, caring and talented team of women that made me feel truly looked after and relaxed
Thank you Helen, Jo, Annie, Chelsea and Ro. I'll be back!”
